What is toughened glass?
Toughened glass — also known as tempered glass — is processed through controlled thermal or chemical treatment to increase its strength compared to standard glass. When broken, it shatters into small, rounded fragments rather than sharp shards, dramatically reducing the risk of injury. It is a legal requirement in many commercial glazing applications in the UK under Building Regulations Approved Document N.
